Interview


I interviewed Rudy Turner from Delran, NJ. He traveled from Rutgers University (New Brunswick) to walk from Temple to City Hall to witness the historic Eagles Super Bowl Victory Parade.

He mentioned that walking Broad St from Temple isn't something he would ever normally think to do, but the energy in the city has been so crazy and there were so many other people alongside him.

Turner drove to Philadelphia the Sunday night of the Super Bowl from his Delran home and made the same walk with his friends. That's over a 4-mile walk there and back. Rudy and his friends were joined by plenty of Eagles fans and others just enjoying the energy.

Walk by Color

Walk by Color Color-coded signs like such can be spotted on every block in Center City, from the Delaware River to 22 St and Vine St to Lombard St. The Walk! Philadelphia signs were put up by the Center City District >> to bring ease to finding your way through the city. Each color represents the boundaries of a particular district. Blue for the Parkway Museums District, teal for Convention Center District Foundation, red for Historic District, purple for Washington Square District, and green for Rittenhouse Square District. A Sunday stroll from the parkway to Society Hill, no GPS necessary. Just look up.

EVENT: Whiskey Walk

Sometimes the best way to get people to walk their city is to give them a series of bars to hit up. In March Philly has its Whiskey Walk. Participants hop around 8 of Philly's downtown bars tasting, enjoying, and celebrating Irish Whiskey and preparing for St. Patrick's Day. Of course the best way to get around is to walk. When you've enjoyed the music and food of one bar, grab your friends and walk on over to the next spot.
